Why do some people survive and even thrive during times of extreme crisis?
Why is it that despite every obstacle that life throws their way, they are able to pick themselves up and keep going?
Some would say it is their faith.
Others would claim it to be a strength that lies in their genetics.
Yet others would overlook these reasons and tell you the reason is as simple as it is obvious- they use Emotional Intelligence as their crucible for change in a world which is increasingly chaotic and unpredictable.
In the last 20 years, I have worked with hundreds of individual clients and into the thousands with organizations who hired us for transformation and change consulting.
I have observed, catalogued and now recall, the success stories that never made the papers, but changed the careers and lives of those I worked with.
Those personal success stories adopted an approach to life which propped them up every day without fail. For every challenge they faced, they came back not fighting, but healing. Their success came in small ways, yet were ground breaking. They saw the world as not a battleground to conquer, but as a landscape to understand and heal.
And, they began with themselves.
In daily acts of courage and self-compassion, they dissolved assumptions, disillusion, prejudice, and heartache. They pulled themselves through job loss, rejection, life-changing events over which they had no control, not with will power alone, but informed by a curiosity and humility that begged the question, “What Can I learn about myself in this situation?”
If you are at a crossroads within your own life, or are representing a company who can’t get out of its own way because they don’t operate with honesty, accountability and creativity as its tenets, then read a few of the pieces I have written below. They are designed to provoke thought, inviting you to consider the options that are always available when you choose to work with theintuitiveorganization.
